UMass Lowell sophomore Rinardo Perry contributed a career-high 26 points in Sunday’s 98-78 victory against Cornell.
Other than the first three points, UML sustained the lead for the entirety of the game. The River Hawks were able to effectively capitalize on their opponent’s mistakes, scoring 30 points off of Cornell’s 22 turnovers. The team also scored 25 second-chance points off 15 offensive rebounds.
The Big Red shot better from the field than the River Hawks (55.8 to 51.4 percent), but strong performances from Perry and Jahad Thomas (17 points) helped secure the win for UML.
Matt Morgan led the Big Red with 25 points, including five 3-pointers. Stone Gettings contributed 13 points.
The River Hawks will next face LIU Brooklyn (2-3) on Wednesday at 3 p.m.
