It was a long time coming but it appears that a New England Patriots wide receiver may very well be on his way back onto the field.
Malcolm Mitchell was seen returning to the practice field today for the first time since September 6.
Providence Journal beat writer Mark Daniels tweeted out photos of the second year receiver on the field during today’s frosty session.

Mitchell (24), has exactly a three week window to be activated to the 53-man roster as their second and last add off the injured reserve list. Their first was linebacker Shea McClellin who ended up suffering a setback and never saw a down after being activated.
The addition of Mitchell back into the mix would add more experience and even more depth to the position as Chris Hogan is still dealing with a persistent shoulder injury. As well as recent addition Kenny Britt who despite seeing more and more action, still will need more time to be brought up to speed with the offense.
With Malcolm Mitchell returning to the field. the players at the wide receiver position are as follows.
- Danny Amendola
- Kenny Britt
- Brandin Cooks
- Phillip Dorsett
- Chris Hogan
- Malcolm Mitchell*
- Matthew Slater
* – Not yet activated to 53-man roster
